A technical issue is causing delays of up to 120 minutes on Wightlink’s Fishbourne – Portsmouth vehicle ferry service this morning (Sunday). The tech issue is only affecting those boarding from the Island, with the Portsmouth – Fishbourne service currently running to time. Delays of up to 2 hours are being experienced. A Wightlink spokesperson has said:
“We are very sorry for the changes to your travel plans.”
UPDATE @ 15:45 – There are no longer delays on the affected route.

New strapline for ShiteLink adverts:
Wightlink Ferries, guaranteed to horribly expensive & hideously unreliable!
They could use that but it makes no sense. They’d probably want to check it for basic grammar first.
I would still happily travel Wightlink over dirty Chav funnel. But I’d love a tunnel to spare us the wait either end.
A vehicle fire in the middle of the tunnel. Months of delays.
How many cars catch fire on the ferries half way across?????
Try taking a drive down to Dartford crossing, you will see the delays that are caused by a Breakdown, RTC etc. Coming over the bridge, its not uncommon for it to be closed because of a Suicide, RTC etc
With the greatest respect, Ted (and others); If you don’t want to cross water, don’t live on an island!
Caulkheads are frightened of a tunnel.
Us Grockles know a tunnel makes sense.
You that desperate for a massive rise in crime here then.
Twats useless service..
The batteries in Victoria of Wight have gone flat. She is not amused.
Poor service and over priced. The money wasted on the empty facilities at Portsmouth says it all. Paid £202 for a weekend return
Think I’ll go Red funnel from now on.
They’re worst at the moment 6pm 9pm cancelled. 1 boat running.
Both ferry companies need to be brought back into public ownership. They’ve screwed us over, just like the government for far too long. A ferry crossing from Ardrosen to Brodick in Arran, car and up to 4 passengers costs less than £30 for a return journey and it’s a one hour crossing.
I was on one of the affected services and WL staff couldn’t have been nicer about it. I was delayed by about 50 mins, no biggie. Think I’ve been moved onto an earlier crossing having arrived early about a dozen times in the last year and this is only the second time there’s been a meaningful problem. Not sure why everyone is always so keen to have a pop.
