With Euro 2024 approaching its conclusion, attention once again turns to the Premier League—England’s most prestigious competition. The 2024/25 season looks intriguing, with new managers and players arriving at both ends of the table, making Premier League betting just as challenging as ever. Indeed, with Jürgen Klopp stepping down as Liverpool manager and a changing of the guard at Brighton and Hove Albion, West Ham United and Chelsea, this season could provide plenty of upsets and entertainment, with the battle for the title having a lot to live up to following Manchester City’s fourth consecutive triumph. The challenge will be for any side to stop City, who made history in English football with another title defence last term. But who could be the team to dethrone the champions? Ahead of the new season, we look at a few of the favourites to win the 2024/25 Premier League. Read on to find out more. Manchester City We begin with the clear favourites for the title with City, who have odds of 13/10 to win the league for the fifth year in a row. This could be Guardiola’s last year in charge at the Etihad Stadium, and the Spaniard would love nothing more than to leave his mark on the English game with another trophy for his cabinet. City were denied the league and FA Cup double last season when rivals Manchester United beat them 2-0 at Wembley in a devastating counter-attacking display, outlining some of the fragilities in a squad that will likely receive some more investment this summer. Savio is already arriving from Girona, while Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park. The current champions begin their defence of the title with a tough away trip to Stamford Bridge, facing Chelsea in Enzo Maresca’s home debut. Arsenal Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are the side that have come the closest on the last two occasions to winning the Premier League. Despite capitulating in the 2022/23 title race, the Gunners bounced back the following season and recorded an impressive 89 points – enough to win the league on many other occasions – demonstrating they can compete with some of the best sides in the country. The inexperience Arsenal had shown in the previous campaign was gone, and they will be hoping from the last two campaigns that they can make it third time lucky, with their rock-solid defence conceding the fewest goals in the league, giving the north London outfit odds of 2/1 to go that step further next term. It will be interesting to see if the Gunners can balance their domestic responsibilities with European commitments, having been embarrassed in the Champions League by Bayern Munich last year, barely landing a scratch at the Allianz Arena, as the experienced Bavarians ended Arsenal’s first campaign amongst Europe’s elite since 2017. Liverpool Liverpool maintained a strong pursuit of the title until injuries and inconsistency ultimately overshadowed the last few months of Klopp’s tenure at Anfield. Although they are in a period of transition, expect them to be in and amongst the title race once again under the guidance of new boss Arne Slot. The Dutchman is no stranger to winning silverware, having guided Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in 2023, which put him on the Reds’ radar, and if he can get the best out of compatriot Cody Gakpo, who impressed at Euro 2024 playing as a left winger, Liverpool have a great foundation to begin their campaign with. Slot’s first test will be a trip to newly promoted Ipswich Town, where the crowd is expected to be electric to welcome topflight football back to Portman Road for the first time in 22 years. It will be a test of Liverpool’s mettle and a first glance of whether they can be genuine title contenders.
