Ventnor beat Isle of Wight Champions W&B on penalties to reach the semi final of the Isle of Wight’s most prestigious football tournament: the Senior (Gold) Cup.
The South Wight side had twice failed to overcome W&B in Harwoods Division 1 this season, losing 1-2 at Watcombe Bottom on the opening day of the season before being beaten 3-1 at Sandy Lane.
W&B raced into a 3-0 lead with goals from Josh Appell in the 18th minute, Sam Cant in the 20th and Aidan Sainsbury in the 36th. However, Ventnor captain and prolific scorer Emerson Tattersall pulled a goal back from the penalty spot for the away side before the half time break to make the score 3-1.
In the 2nd half Tattersall bagged his brace before scoring his hat trick (which included a further penalty) to level the scores and take the tie to a shootout. W&B were unlucky to have a goal disallowed shortly before the final whistle.

High Park 0-0 Shanklin High Park won 10-9 on penalties
2nd Division High Park held 1st Division high-flyers Shanklin to a goalless draw at Seaclose despite going down to 10 men early in the 2nd half.
After the game, winning manager Stuart Woodmore said:
“We came with a game plan today. We were short on numbers. Billy (Haylor) getting sent off in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half didn’t help.
“We parked a couple of double deckers. We frustrated them. They had a couple in the sin bin.
“The boys out there today just dug and dug and dug. I’m very proud of them all.”
