A suspected drug dealer is in custody after being caught getting off the Isle of Wight ferry with what is thought to be Class A drugs in his vehicle.
Police stopped the vehicle as it disembarked from the Wightlink ferry in Portsmouth at just before 08:00 this morning (Wednesday). 3 unmarked vehicles moved in on their target at the exit of the terminal on Gunwharf Road.
A search of the vehicle was carried out and a quantity of suspected Class A drugs were found.
A 35-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
He is currently in police custody.
UPDATE – The 35-year-old has been bailed until 25th September while enquiries continue.
