Isle of Wight archer Summer Chambers has continued her remarkable run of success, taking top honours in both a county match against Sussex and the Woking Archery Club Open over the weekend.
On Saturday (20th September), 14-year-old Summer captained Hampshire in their match against Sussex, where she secured 1st place in the recurve category with an impressive score of 800 out of 864. Her efforts also helped lead Hampshire to a 1st place team victory.
Her success did not stop there. Just 24 hours later, she travelled to Surrey to compete in the Woking Archery Club Open, where she achieved a score of 1180 out of 1296. That score earned her the highest placing in the Under 16 category, shooting at 50 yards on a Bristol III round.
She narrowly missed out on securing her Elite Master Bowman classification by just 14 points, but she did achieve her red rose badge award in what she described as a fantastic day of competition.
Summer has said that the weekend had been ‘incredible’, saying she was proud to win both individually and with Hampshire, before following it up with success at Woking. She added that both events showed the importance of teamwork and support, and she is now looking ahead to the Southern Counties Final.
The latest wins come on the back of her double gold medal performance at the Hampshire Outdoor Championships earlier this month, where she also broke records, as well as a strong 4th place finish at the Junior National Final.
