Rising Isle of Wight archer Summer Chambers has opened her 2025 indoor season in remarkable fashion, claiming 2 titles at the Indoor Crookhorn competition in Portsmouth.
Competing in the Junior Ladies Recurve category, the 14-year-old from West Wight Archery Club produced commanding performances in both the single and double rounds to secure a clean sweep at her first indoor event of the year.
In the Single Round, Chambers shot an outstanding 560 out of 600, comfortably ahead of her nearest rival, Lilly Adlam of Talisman Club, who scored 444.
She then went on to win the Double Round with a combined total of 1,122, again finishing well clear of Adlam, who posted 904. The results also included a new personal best for Chambers, as she improved from 560 to 562 between her 2 sessions.
The young archer said on social media that it had been an incredible start to her indoor season and praised the organisers and fellow competitors for creating a friendly and competitive atmosphere.
West Wight Archery Club also enjoyed success, placing 3rd in the team event, with Chambers joined by Anton Tran, Rob Palmer and father Chris Chambers.
The event was hosted by Forest of Bere Bowman and marked the first major indoor fixture of the season, attracting archers from across the South.
Chambers’ impressive showing builds on a dominant outdoor season that saw her claim multiple county titles and break several records. Her latest victories confirm her growing reputation as one of the South’s brightest young archery talents.
