Isle of Wight archer Summer Chambers has bounced back from recent disappointment to claim first place and the overall best score at the Guildford Junior Acorn Competition, shooting a remarkable personal best.
The 14-year-old talent made the early morning journey from the Isle of Wight on the 04:30 Red Funnel ferry to Southampton before taking on the Western 40 round at the prestigious Guildford Archery Club event on Saturday (12th July).
Summer recorded an outstanding score of 834 out of a possible 864 – her best-ever result – after shooting 4 dozen arrows at 40 yards and another 4 dozen at 30 yards.
This impressive victory comes just days after she faced challenges at the Junior National Outdoor Championships on 4th July, where equipment issues hampered her performance and tested her resolve. Despite the setback, Summer and her support team worked quickly to fix the problem, ensuring she was back on top form for Guildford.
