Firefighters have once again been mobilised to the derelict Ocean Hotel in Sandown following reports of a smell of smoke coming from the property. 3 appliances from Sandown, Shanklin and Ryde on scene tonight (Tuesday) – just like the many occasions last week. However, this time there is no signs of fire. Firefighters are conducting an external sweep of the property with a thermal imaging camera – but no fire has been located. Last week, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service responded on no fewer than 3 occasions – each time locating a small fire within the once-grand hotel. A sign board appealing for information relating to the latest spate of arson attacks has been erected by the fire service.
