23-year-old Megan Durham is facing a prison sentence after pleading guilty to stabbing a woman in the head 4 times with a chisel.
Durham, of Osborne Road in Shanklin, left the 41-year-old victim with injuries to her head and leg during the assault at an address on Atherley Road on 22nd November last year.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police were called to the scene at 22:40 on 22 November 2021 and officers arrested 3 women. Megan Durham was later charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.
Bournemouth Crown Court heard yesterday (Wednesday) how the victim sustained 3 stab injuries to her scalp and 1 to her forehead, before Durham bit her on the thigh.
Durham admitted causing grievous bodily harm without intent at yesterday’s hearing. She has been remanded in custody to appear at the same court for sentencing on 25th May.

Not to excuse her behaviour but, sounds like she had no options but to become what she has… who were her role models? Once she was written off by everyone who could change her she was always going to follow what she knew… Drink, Drugs and Violence, just like many more on the Island and Mainland.

There is no excuse for that behaviour. I was dragged up by a drug/alcoholic mother, in and out of care since the age of 12 and I’m a very respectful member of the community who chose to not allow myself to follow in her footsteps.
IF you actually read my post you can see I began by saying ‘ Not to excuse her behaviour‘, so your comments are based upon an incorrect assumption, just like a few others here. I know nothing of this woman at all except what was written here, and the fact that you managed to escape the circle of despair that being in care DOES cause to many already damaged children, shows a huge strength of character that you must rightly be very proud of. There are many of our lowlife young adults who chose to go the way of drink, drugs and violence, often aided by lowlife scum that they look up to and when you add the fact that our care system throws them out on the streets at 16-18 then who else do they decide to live amongst?
I make absolutely no excuses for this womans acts, or behaviour in the past. Having lived in two of the very roughest Council Estates in Sheffield and Bradford I have seen way too many of these idiots who think they can do what they want with impunity, and our soft Magistrates on the Island simply reinforce their perceptions, getting a slap, a tiny fine and the kudos from their friends does nothing to teach them that their actions have consequences until they cross the line and step up to the big league when serious jail time is rightly the only option left.
The hatred shown to her on this thread is sort of understandable if you have met her or been a victim of her behaviour or know the victim, but hatred solves nothing and only serves to allow this behaviour to continue. The fact that I choose to try and see why this happens so often these days, rather than just slagging her off, takes nothing away from your personal triumphs, but even you must know those who have gone the same way as her. If anything, your success shows that there ARE alternatives to taking the easy option of benefits, booze and violence,.

I live in Osborne Road and there are quite a few nasties like her living here. Police are regular visitors. Front of the flats where she lives are despicable.
Lock this bitch up with all the other skanks in prison. They can all get stuck into each other.
