A serious road traffic collision on the outskirts of Ryde has led to several road closures being put in place overnight, with the mainland-based Collision Investigation Unit called in to forensically examine the crash scene. Stroud Wood Road, Newnham Road and Rowlands Lane – situated between the villages of Binstead and Havenstreet – have all been locked down by police this morning (Monday) as investigations into the overnight incident get underway. It’s believed a motorcyclist travelling away from Haylands towards Havenstreet on Stroud Wood Road continued straight on at the junction, colliding with a sign post. The scrambling of Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital at around 02:00 this morning is thought to have been connected with the incident. Road closures are in place from the junctions of Upton Cross, Newnham Lane, The Downs and Firestone Copse Road. UPDATE @ 07:45 – The motorcycle has been recovered from the scene by local recovery agents, Bartletts. Hard road closures are expected to be fully lifted shortly. UPDATE @ 09:00 – All roads in the area have now re-opened following the conclusion of on-scene investigations. UPDATE @ 13:07 – A man in his 20s has sustained serious injuries, Police have confirmed. An appeal has been launched for information… https://www.islandecho.co.uk/early-hours-havenstreet-crash-leaves-motorcyclist-in-a-serious-condition/.
