UPDATED: SCOOTERIST INJURED IN YAVERLAND ROAD TRAFFIC INCIDENT

A scooterist has been injured in a road traffic incident at Yaverland this afternoon (Friday), just as the annual Isle of Wight Scooter Rally gets underway. Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene at Yaverland Road, tending to a male. The service has a rapid response paramedic, a critical care paramedic and an ambulance crew in attendance. The incident occurred at around 16:30. Thankfully, no serious injuries appear to have been sustained.  Yaverland Road was blocked in both directions for a time whilst medics tended to the injured rider, but the road has now re-opened. UPDATE – A man in his 70s has been treated for minor injuries. He fell from his scooter. The scene at Yaverland Road has now been cleared.
