A woman causing a nuisance on the railway lines at Ryde has led to the suspension of Island Line train services – just as commuters head home for the day. The incident began at around 17:45 and has seen both trains held at Brading. Island Echo understands a woman – who has since been detained by Police – was on the track between Ryde St John’s and Ryde Esplanade, but power was cut to the entire Ryde-Shanklin line. Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary – acting on behalf of British Transport Police – have detained the female at Ryde St John’s Station. Island Line trains are expected to resume a timetabled service shortly.
