POLICE SEARCHING FOR MISSING PERSON IN RYDE JOINED BY RESCUE TEAMS

Police have been joined by search and rescue teams in Ryde as officers work to locate a vulnerable missing person tonight (Thursday). The search efforts are currently focused on the Monktonmead area of the town and along the Esplanade. Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams have taken up position near Ryde Harbour, with Coastguard Rescue Officers on foot conducting a sweep of the shoreline. Meanwhile, Ryde Inshore Rescue’s Rescue 2 lifeboat has been launched to conduct a search of the local area from the sea. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is yet to issue an appeal for information, so there is no description of the missing person available.
