Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following a serious collision in Freshwater yesterday evening (Monday) that saw a motorcyclist airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. As first reported by Island Echo, Police were called at about 18:30 yesterday (24th June) to a report of a collision on Military Road involving a black Triumph motorcycle and a grey Citroen Nemo. The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 50s from Cowes, was taken to Southampton General Hospital by the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance for treatment after suffering serious injuries. The driver of the van didn’t suffer any injuries, whilst a passenger in the vehicle was taken to St Mary’s as a precaution. The road was closed for some time so that the Mainland-based Collision Investigation Unit (CSI) could come and conduct an examination of the scene. A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson has said:
“If you saw either vehicle on this road around the time of the collision, witnessed the collision itself, or have any information or dash cam footage that may assist our investigation, please call 101 quoting reference 44240266283.”

Teaches the biker right for trying to overtake a turning van which was clearly indicating in which the biker was speeding in excess of 100mph so this collision was 1000% bikers fault and totally deserved what he got however feel sorry for the innocent couple in the van which was clearly innocent!
I’ve never seen so many assumptions in 1 post. Please elaborate as to the points you’ve raised so passionately:
“Clearly indicating” how have you evidenced this?
“Biker speeding in excess of 100mph” how have you come to this conclusion, and again evidenced?
“1000% bikers fault” again, evidenced how?
It’s a good job the death penalty isn’t around with investigators like you around.
I can’t see that bike doing speeds as its in the drive and so was the guy.. they’d be down the road if it was at speed.. I’d guess not using the indicator on the car was possibly the cause however if the car was slowing down the biker was silly not to assume everys a knob on the road and foresee the car was turning, indicator or not
Sadly the Island possesses its own breed of assumption keyboard warriors who “know they are right because assuming makes up 100%of their DNA,with no regard for family members who may be grieving and they know they are right because “Fred”down the road saw it ,heard it or usually heard from Eric and he would know because he lives 2streets away!,,small minds small Island with far to much time on their hands and just the one brain cell struggling to survive.shameful!
Did you witness it? Or are you making assumptions? Either way your comment is disgusting to say he totally got what he deserved
where you there then as you seam to know .Think the police would like to talk to you
You really must try to ‘brush up on your percentages !
Not agreeing 100mph coming out a 40mph limit, but how did they hit rear (as reported ) of vehicle on bike which at 40mph should of been able to manoeuvre round to inside. Weather was good and dry. Sun getting low though and could of played a part to one of the victims?. Hopefully the rider recovers.
Excess of 100mph…. I don’t think so, not going up that hill. Please elaborate on where you are getting your facts from, otherwise you’re just speculating and that is a problem!
Were you there, did you witness it, are you an expert witness that’s able to state the approx speed a vehicle was travelling at.
You are a waste of space and how IE allowed you to have this put on here I don’t know.
Keep these sort of opinions to yourself in future and have some feeling for the friends and family of this poor guy and let the highly trained Roads Policing Officers to do their jobs.
Wishing the rider a speedy recovery and my thoughts are with his family.
90% of accidents involving a motorbike and a car are the car drivers fault.Blame at this point is irrelvent.
Most normal people would be wishing the biker a swift and full recovery.
Did your mum bring you up to write vile posts attacking someone who is clearly badly hurt ?
What an utter prick you are. Take your hateful comment and insert it up your arse where it belongs.
Look’s blindly obvious the van turned into the path of the motorcycle
I’m sorry… But the impact is on the right hand side of the Citroën, suggesting the bike hit it side on “overtaking” regardless of it indicating or not, it’s still a 30mph limit coming out of Freshwater Bay. What gives a bike the right to speed past and overtake in a 30mph limit. I hope the rider is OK. But the amount of idiot bikers I see on the island these days. I’m supprised more don’t die. Thank got we dont have a motor way.
Emergency services were called to the scene overlooking Freshwater Bay at around 18:25 this evening (Monday) to reports that a motorcyclist had been thrown from their bike after colliding with the rear of a Citroen Nemo.
Might look obvious to you but were you there NO I was
“were you there??… I was”
Oh,.. so what did happen then ?
Let the police say what happened,
