POLICE INVESTIGATING AFTER HEAVILY-DAMAGED CAR ABANDONED IN NEWPORT

Police are investigating the circumstances behind the dumping of a crashed vehicle in the middle of Newport earlier today (Wednesday). Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was called at 10:15 this morning to reports of an abandoned black BMW 325i on Old Westminster Lane. Officers arrived to find the vehicle with significant front-end damage, appearing to have been involved in a road traffic collision. No injuries have been reported to Police and investigations are still underway to determine where the crash happened. Island Roads has been made aware of the abandoned vehicle so that it can be removed.
