Police moved in on a vehicle in Newport early this morning (Monday) to arrest a 28-year-old man on suspicion of blackmail. Officers surrounded the BMW estate as it travelled along the northbound carriageway of Medina Way at around 07:00, in what appears to have been a pre-planned operation. It has been confirmed that a 28-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of blackmail as part of an ongoing investigation. A vehicle was driven away from the dual carriageway and taken to Newport Police Station. The suspect remains in Police custody at this time.
