Regatta House, Cowes was the venue for four well known Island artists to stage their show entitled ‘Coast and Country’ over the late May Bank Holiday Weekend.
Following a successful show last year the four artists: Chris Gillies, Carol Owen MBE, Sally Pengelly and Malcolm Winter A.G.A.v A decided that their work complements each other so that an exhibition together was the way forward.
Within minutes of the opening of the show at the preview, paintings were being bought by keen purchasers and the famous red dots were appearing on several of the art works.
As the title of the exhibition stated, several of the paintings were of coastal scenes both of the Island and elsewhere and these were enhanced by the other paintings of country scenes and floral topics in a variety of mediums.
This was another successful show for these Island painters who hope to arrange a similar exhibition next year.
One of the next chances to view the work of these artists, as well as a number of others, will be during the ‘Open Studios’ events in July.
