NO INJURIES REPORTED IN VIADUCT CRASH ON MILITARY ROAD

Military Road has reopened following an earlier crash which saw a van collide with the viaduct at Brighstone. Police were called at 07:19 this morning (Friday) to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A3055 at Grange Chine. Island Echo understands the driver of the Ford Transit Connect may have hit fuel on the carriageway in wet conditions, sending the vehicle into crash barriers and subsequently into the viaduct walk. Bricks and other debris ended up scattered across the road, which has since been cleared. Motorists were diverted for a time but the road has now fully reopened. No injuries have been reported from the single male driver.
