A body has been found during the search for missing Freshwater man Julian Turrill.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from The Needles and Bembridge have been involved in recovering the body alongside Freshwater Lifeboat, after the discovery at the base of cliffs off Military Road earlier this morning (Sunday).
It is thought the discovery was made by WightSAR – the Island’s voluntary search and rescue organisation – after they were deployed to search the Freshwater area at first light.
Although formal identification is yet to take place, the body is believed to be that of Mr Turrill. His family have been informed.
54-year-old Julian was reported missing yesterday (Saturday) after he failed to turn up for work at midday. A bike hired by Mr Turrill was found at the top of Tennyson Down at 09:00.
WightSAR and Police have been stood down from the search, which yesterday involved the National Police Air Support Helicopter and the Hampshire Marine Police Unit.
Coastguard Teams have now left the scene, close to Freshwater Golf Club.
