NETTLESTONE PENSIONER CAUGHT WITH OVER 800 INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN

75-year-old Barry Ewens is to learn his fate at the Isle of Wight Crown Court next month after admitting possessing more than 800 indecent images of children – 443 of which were the most serious kind. Ewens, of Nettlestone Hill in Nettlestone, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday (25th June) where he pleaded guilty to 3 charges of making indecent photographs/pseudo-photograph of a child, namely 443 Category A images, 356 Category B and 49 Category C. The Crown Prosecution Service said that the images were obtained between 9th October 2020 and 14th December 2022, with Ewens being caught through a username used online. A forensic examination of his computer was carried out by Police. The pensioner, who previously had ties to ice hockey on the Isle of Wight, has no previous convictions. Barry Kevin Ewens has been ordered to report to Newport Police Station to give personal details in line with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register. He will appear before the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 26th July for sentencing.
