A motorcyclist has been seriously injured as a result of a crash involving a tractor’s trailer on a country lane in Adgestone this evening (Tuesday).
Emergency services are on scene at Lower Road, where a male motorcyclist has collided with the rear of a flat bed trailer – understood to have been reversed out of an entrance way by a tractor.
Flying medics from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance have touched down beside the scene having been scrambled from their Thruxton base shortly before 19:00.
Doctors are providing enhanced critical care to the casualty, who is expected to be airlifted to Southampton General Hospital’s Major Trauma Unit with leg injuries.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has a doctor, operational commander and ambulance crew on scene also.
Police have closed the road in both directions and it is expected to remain closed for several hours.
UPDATE @ 20:28 – The male casualty has been airlifted to the mainland for further, advanced treatment.
Hard road closures are now in place at both ends of Lower Road as Police investigate the full circumstances of this evening’s crash, and await an update from the hospital. Upper Road has since reopened.
