A 36-year-old man is in custody following an assault on 2 teenagers in Oakfield, Ryde last night (Tuesday). Police were called to reports of an assault against a boy and a girl on Oak Vale at around 19:00. 6 officers spent around 2 hours on scene, arresting a 36-year-old male from Ryde on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He remains in custody at Newport Police Station at this time. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service also responded to the incident but did not transfer any persons to hospital. Island Echo is told that a male was allegedly seen waving a bottle around and attempting to gain access to a property.
