2 Jake Scrimshaw strikes saw the Isle of Wight through to the semi finals of the football tournament.
The game began badly for the Isle of Wight with Liam Triggs booked in the 1st minute.
Jake Scrimshaw opened the scoring for the Isle of Wight in the 16th minute, beating Guernsey goalkeeper Hamon on the edge of the penalty area before slotting home (0-1).
Connor Kelly had the chance to extend the Isle of Wight’s lead in the 24th minute, but failed to get past Hamon in a 1-on-1 situation.
A minute before the half time interval, the Isle of Wight were fortuitously awarded a penalty. Jake Scrimshaw coolly slotted home to score his 5th goal in the Island Games football tournament (0-2).

The Isle of Wight had the opportunity to wrap up the game 6 minutes after the half time interval when awarded another penalty, but the ball bounced off the crossbar.
The Isle of Wight then made their 1st substitution with Jimmy Mumford replacing Joe Butcher.
Guernsey were awarded a penalty on the hour mark, which was converted by Ross Allen (1-2).
Despite constant home pressure and a vociferous home crowd, the Isle of Wight held out until the final whistle to make it through to the semi finals of the 2023 NatWest Island Games football tournament.
