The Isle of Wight Archery team will be looking for glory in Guernsey next month when they take to the range at Port Soif.
The 3-person team – which is the smallest that Team Isle of Wight is taking to Guernsey – consists of Kay and David Grist and captain, Rob Palmer.
Captain Rob – who has been shooting since he was 16 years old and is a member of West Wight Archery Club – has a wealth of Island Games experience, competing at the 1997 games in Jersey, the 2003 games in Guernsey and in 2011 when we, the Island, hosted.
On the other end of the spectrum, Kay and David, who are both members of Wight Bowmen, have only been shooting for around 4 years.
It is hoped that Rob, Kay and David can inspire the younger generation to get involved in archery.
Team Isle of Wight last won medals in archery back in 2015 in Jersey where they topped the medal table with 3 golds. Wight Bowmen archer Lee Grace bagged a gold and a bronze that year.
All 3 of the Island hopefuls take to the range at Port Soif from 09:00 on Monday 10th July. Medal matches – should they get there – will take place on Thursday 13th July.
