Young Isle of Wight archer Summer Chambers secured another gold medal at a competitive shoot in Essex at the weekend, continuing her impressive rise in the sport.
The event, held at Noak Hill Archery Club on Sunday (4th May), saw Summer – who has now moved up to the Recurve U15s – battle through tough conditions to come out on top.
Despite strong winds and cold temperatures, the West Wight Archery Club member stayed focused to secure 1st place in her category. This is all the more impressive as she is now shooting at 50m.
Her visit to the Essex shoot formed part of the Southern Counties Archery Youth Tour.
Summer has said:
“The weather conditions were extremely windy and cold which made it difficult but I managed to pull through.
“I loved every second and would like to thank Noak Hill Archery Club for organising today’s event.”
The win followed a focused training session the day before, on home ground, where Summer worked with her coach Martin Oakley on timing, release, and shoulder rotation.
This latest result adds to Summer’s growing list of achievements. As previously reported by Island Echo, she has already made a name for herself by breaking county records and earning a place on Archery GB’s National Youth Squad.
Summer has the Junior Series and National Outdoor competitions coming up over the next couple of months, which will be real tests of her progress as she competes nationally at the new 50m distance.
