Young Isle of Wight archer Summer Chambers has been crowned Under 15 Recurve National Indoor Champion after an impressive performance at her first ever Junior National Indoor Championships.
The competition, held in Coventry, attracts top young talent from across Great Britain.
Summer took part in the early morning session, shooting at 08:00 and delivering a personal best score of 568 out of a possible 600.
That score placed her at the top of the leaderboard for session 1, but with her main rivals competing later in the day, it was a tense wait to see if her lead would hold.
As session 2 drew to a close, it became clear that no other competitor could match her score – confirming Summer as the new national champion in her age group.
It marks a significant milestone in Summer’s archery career and is her biggest achievement of the year to date. Her success is made all the more impressive given the high-pressure environment and the calibre of competition at national level.
Speaking on her achievement, Summer has said:
“The biggest thanks goes to my family, who have believed in me from day one and never doubted my talent for this sport.
“I’m hugely grateful for everything they have done for me this year, and to finish the year as Junior National Indoor Champion for U15 women Recurve is a huge success for me and I couldn’t be prouder of myself.
“I Can’t wait for my next competition which is at the end of January the Indoor Hampshire Championship but before then I have a lot to celebrate and training to do!”
