Commuters heading to and from Portsmouth have been hit by not only adverse weather cancellations affecting Hovertravel services, but technical issues on Wightlink’s Fastcat too. Strong winds and rough seas mean that Hovertravel has suspended its Ryde-Southsea service until further notice, with an update due at 07:45. Normally, customers would jump onto the next available Fastcat sailing from Ryde Pier Head but a technical issue has forced the cancellation of a number of Wightlink sailings this morning. The cross-Solent operator says that 06:15 and 07:15 sailings from Portsmouth Harbour has been cancelled as well as the 06:45 and 07:45 sailings from Ryde. Tickets will be accepted on the Fishbourne-Portsmouth car ferry service. UPDATE @ 07:24 – Wightlink’s FastCat will be back in service starting with the 08:15 from Portsmouth Harbour.
