Guests were evacuated from Seaview Hotel in the middle of the night when ‘towelling materials’ caught fire. It was just before 02:30 that the alarms at the prestigious hotel were activated as a result of a fire on the first floor. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised 3 appliances from Ryde, Sandown and Newport, with firefighters quickly tackling the fire. The affected area was ventilated and inspected, later being deemed safe. Guests were allowed to return to the rooms a short while later, with fire crews standing down shortly after 03:30. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfsNc9j4kqQ
