A Shanklin teenager has admitted several counts of possessing and distributing indecent images of children. Jamie O’Neil, 19, of Culver Road, admitted 3x possession of a photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child and 3x distribute an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this afternoon (Tuesday). In O’Neil’s possession were a total of 159x Category A images, 324x Category B images and 428x Category C images, the court heard. The offences occurred between 27th April – 15th July 2022. Liz Miller, prosecuting, told the court that the offences were too serious to be sentenced in the Magistrates Court and that they should instead be sent to the Crown Court. The bench agreed, and so they adjourned the case until 30th August. A pre-sentence report is to be compiled before the sentencing hearing. O’Neil has been granted unconditional bail until that time.
