On 1st March, Girlguiding Southwest England Region chose the Isle of Wight for one of its Region Roadshows joining dozens of Island Leaders and Young Leaders.
Chief Commissioner, Racheal Tattum, along with her deputies Olivia Cox and Helen Barette travelled to the Island from the Region Office in Salisbury revealing figures from Cornwall to Hampshire and Berkshire to the Channel Islands and the number of members, including Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Leaders.
A Q&A session followed before a further presentation by Racheal showing the Island members participating in activities over the past year, including camps, sleepovers, adventures on the mainland and further afield as well as helping other Island charities and supporting local communities.
One of the Region’s Ambassadors and Chief Constable of Wiltshire Police, Catherine Roper, gave a fascinating insight into policing following a career with the Metropolitan Police.
In her presentation, she explained the similarities between policing and Girlguiding. A Quiz with topics on Policing, Girlguiding and venues in South West England followed.
