FRIDGE GOES UP IN FLAMES AT POPULAR NEWPORT BARBERS

Firefighters from Newport, Cowes and Ryde were mobilised to a fire at Efes Barbers in Newport late last night (Monday). 5 appliances and an Aerial Ladder Platform were sent to the High Street at 23:22 when reports were received by fire control of a ground floor fire at the commercial premises. Main jets and hose reels were used to tackle the blaze, which is thought to have been started by an under counter fridge. Ventilation fans were used to clear the smoke from the premises and the appliance was safely removed. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service left the scene by 01:00.
