Wighltink has suspended its Fastcat service between Ryde Pier Head and Portsmouth Harbour due to a mechanical issue on board Wight Ryder.
Late last night (Thursday) it was announced that the 05:15 and 06:15 sailings from Portsmouth had been pulled, alongside the 05:40 and 06:45 sailings from Ryde.
Now, the cross-Solent operator has confirmed that all sailings are cancelled until the 10:15 from Portsmouth. The first sailing from Ryde today will be the 10:45.
It’s said that the suspension of service is necessary to allow teams time to work on repairing the undisclosed issue and safely return the vessel to service.
It appears that Wight Ryder 2 is also unavailable for service. It has not moved from its docked position in Portsmouth since Wednesday morning.
Ironically, the breakdown comes on the first day that Island Line trains have run up Ryde Pier in several months.
