Wightlink has announced that a technical issue with 1 of its ferries means a number of sailings on the Fishbourne-Portsmouth route have been cancelled today (Wednesday) and across both Thursday and Friday.
The cross-Solent operator says that an issue on board St Clare means that the 20:00 sailing from Portsmouth Gunwharf and the 21:00 return from Fishbourne have been pulled.
It has not been disclosed what exactly the issue is, but it is said that the action is necessary to ensure that the car ferry service is operated to the highest possible standard.
Wightlink apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
Perhaps a coffee machine isn’t working properly.
More likely hey only have a few cars booked so they pull it, offering some lame excuse…Whatever the truth is, we never ever get to know.
Wightlink’s car ferry has a mystery technical problem, so cancel sailings, Red Funnel’s Red jet has ‘generator issues’ so cancel sailings and Red Funnel’s car ferry has ‘fuel contamination’ so cancel sailing, all in the same week…. and next week…
By that time of the day they only run a 2 boat service so why can’t the st faith be used?
Wightlink’s turn today, fuel contamination, no cannot use that red funnel beat us to that excuse, undisclosed technical issues, yep, that should cover everyhting.
Did they get the fuel from the same supplier as RF that they had to cancel crossings, oh is that not coincidence
Wrong sort of sunshine….or the schools have gone back?
Highest possible standard, I assume they are looking for a new operator!
use me as a build bridge/tunnel button………
What a convenient coincidence; busy school hols are over and they have problems… Red Funnel had cancellations too this week.. mme….
Operate to the highest standard, that’s a load of cobblers, a few months ago I was travelling early spring time, cold there was no heating and the air con unit was peeing out like potty! Can someone also tell me if there is a major incident, as happened in recent times and we need fire engines or other emergency services here urgently, what happens then??
