A Newport woman spotted driving with her fog lights on in clear conditions was found to be under the influence of drugs at the time, a court has heard. 35-year-old Jade Tigwell, of Godric Road, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week charged with 2 counts of drug driving. Lauren Stone, prosecuting, told the court that on 12th December last year, Tigwell was stopped on Horsebridge Hill when Police noticed she was driving her Renault Clio with the fog lights on – despite the weather being clear. A roadside drug wipe was conducted at the scene which returned a positive reading for cocaine. Further tests completed at Newport Police Station showed that Tigwell was over the limit for both THC and Benzoylecegonine – the cannabis and cocaine breakdown product. Defending, Oscar Vincent told the court that his client was a person of good character and that she wasn’t a user of cocaine – and instead it was the cocktail of medicines she takes for various medicinal reasons that resulted in the positive BZE reading. Magistrates adjourned the matter until 2nd August to allow a pre-sentence report to be compiled. Tigwell was handed an interim driving ban in the meantime.

I see loads of vehicles going along everyday with their fog lights on
does that mean they are all drug drivers!
If the positive result was due to her “medicinal reasons” for taking certain medications , then she clearly should not be driving. The DVLA or her GP can advise on that.
Personally I think it’s not medicinal reasons rather recreational ones.
Good old Godric road, the gift that keeps on giving.
You know that, they all get their gifts from you, and you from them way to go lardy
NO, I won’t have that.
It is the child tax credits ( now Universal Credit ) which keeps giving, along with free or subsidised rent, council tax and free school meals which allows these “muvvers “ to fund their drug habit and afford to run a car at working peoples expense.
That and the PIP fraudsters…I know one.. she gets nearly seven hundred quid a month and there’s nothing wrong with her ( that anyone can prove) and that gives her all the excuses she needs to not work. And why would she with all that cash in hand ?
Godric Road, upholding the reputation of St Georges ghetto.
