The Isle of Wight’s men’s and women’s teams have both struck gold in the English Sporting Shooting Team Event.
The men’s team of Daniel Bishop, Mark Downer and Lee Pitman scored 180, 17 ahead of silver medallists Guernsey and 22 ahead of Jersey in bronze medal position.
The women’s team of Katie Bishop, Jennie Cartwright and Sarah Franklin scored 142, 16 more than silver medallists Guernsey and 28 more than Ynys Mon, who took bronze.
The Isle of Wight have now won 9 golds: 6 in shooting, 2 in cycling and 1 in athletics.
Earlier in the afternoon, Perron Phipps and Matt Reed won a bronze medal behind Guernsey and Gotland in another shooting competition: the ISSF 25m Centrefire Men’s team event.
The Isle of Wight Cycling Road Race team of Elvis Belton, Kevin Chant, Nicholas Hutchings, George Spooner and Joe Staunton are also bronze medallists, achieving their podium place behind Saaremaa and Guernsey.
The Isle of wight are currently 5th in the medals table at the 2023 NatWest Island Games with a total of 24 podium places.
