DOG BITE LEADS TO DRUG DEALING ARREST OF VENTNOR MAN ON MAINLAND

A 24-year-old man from Ventnor is under investigation after being arrested on suspicion of drug dealing in Petersfield yesterday morning (Thursday) – an incident that led to the Bomb Disposal team being called out. Police descended on Stonechat Close at around 11:00 to reports that a man in his 30s had been injured as a result of a dog bite. Whilst at the residential address, officers located several bags of what is thought to be cocaine – a Class A drug. A 24-year-old man from Ventnor on the Isle of Wight was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, as well as on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control. He has since been released on conditional bail until Friday 8th November whilst enquiries continue. The search of the property also uncovered what was thought to be a hand grenade, prompting an emergency response from the Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from Portsmouth. Thankfully, it was quickly determined that the object was a fake.
