The Isle of Wight Council has given notice that the picturesque rock cleft between Bonchurch and Luccombe could remain closed until November as works are undertaken to make it safe again.
The popular landmark, officially known as Public Footpath V65C, was 1st closed back in March because land movement had shifted a set of steps out of position making it unsafe for pedestrians. Now, the Council has advised that the works to repair the steep steps may take up to 6 months.
The alternative route will be Leeson Road, Bonchurch Shute and Public Footpaths V66, V65d, V65a and V65.
That’ll be another permanent closure then.
Why 6 months?? Do they just pluck a number out of thin air?
