A prolific rapist and serial assaulter appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court this afternoon (Tuesday), where he pleaded guilty to 2 counts of occasioning actual bodily harm.
Ian Ochieng, 33, previously described as ‘every woman’s worst nightmare’, was heard to have made a knife out of a fan blade, which he broke and wrapped with a jay cloth as a handle.
It was with this weapon that he left 2 prison officers at HMP Isle of Wight with head lacerations.
Prosecutor Roxanne Cole told the Court how the defendant was taken to the exercise yard where he ran at the victim, delivering a series of punches and kicks, bringing them to the ground. This resulted in a 7mm puncture to the back of the scalp as well as a fractured knee, leaving the officer with PTSD and anxiety.
He then unleashed himself onto the second victim, again administering a heavy foot, causing the victim to fall to the ground. It is here that Ochieng used his weapon to cause a 3cm deep laceration to the cheek of an officer.
Ochieng is currently serving a 16-year sentence at HMP Wakefield – from where he appeared via video link – for the brutal rape and assault of 2 women in Bristol City Centre back in 2019, for which he received 12 years imprisonment.
The-then acting Detective Inspector of Avon and Somerset Police, Mark Newbury, told BBC News that the conviction was one of the most important of his 22 years in policing.
As well as this, Ochieng was convicted for a further 4 years last year after another brutal attack on prison guards at HMP Long Lartin. In this vile act, the defendant threw a bucket of human urine and faecal matter from his cell over 2 prison officers, leaving them hospitalised.
The defendant is expected to appear before the Isle of Wight Crown Court for sentencing on 24th April.
I believe this guy is from kenya wonder how they’d deal with such people..human rights can only be taken so far.
Put him in a cell and don’t let him out.
