UPDATED: AIR AMBULANCE SCRAMBLED TO MILITARY ROAD CRASH OVERLOOKING FRESHWATER BAY

A road traffic collision has occurred on the Island’s iconic Military Road overlooking Freshwater Bay this evening (Monday). Emergency services have been called to the A3055, near to Freshwater Bay Golf Club. The road is blocked in both directions with motorists having to divert via Middle Road in both directions. UPDATE @ 18:56 – The Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance has been scrambled to the incident, indicating the severity of the injuries sustained. UPDATE @ 21:20 – A motorcyclist has been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital as a result of a collision with a car.
