A stairwell has been cordoned off by Police in Newport as enquiries get underway to establish how a man in his 40s sustained serious injuries after being found at the bottom of a flight of stairs earlier this afternoon (Tuesday).
Officers are maintaining a scene guard at the entrance to the multi-storey car park on Pyle Street following the discovery of an injured male at around 13:30.
It’s been confirmed that the male was found at the bottom of a flight of stairs that leads from the road into the multi-storey car park.
The casualty has been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport where he remains with serious injuries.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says that enquiries are ongoing to establish how he came to be injured. This includes whether any third parties have been involved.
