Police are conducting a search for a high risk missing person in the Carisbrooke area of Newport tonight (Tuesday), with the National Police Air Service helicopter deployed to assist. Search efforts are focusing in the areas surrounding Carisbrooke Castle, where the search first begun late this afternoon. WightSAR – the Island’s voluntary search and rescue team – have been called in to assist on-the-ground searches. The NPAS helicopter from Bournemouth is circling the skies and earlier this evening a Police drone was deployed also. Island Echo is told that the individual went missing at around 15:45 and is considered vulnerable. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is yet to issue an appeal for information, despite the extensive resources being utilised. UPDATE @ 21:21 – Police have issued an appeal for information in a bid to locate 40-year-old Kevin Horwood from Newport. UPDATE @ 21:35 – Kevin has been located, Police have confirmed. The search has now been stood down.
