The discovery of a casualty on the beach at Compton has led to a large scale, multi-agency response tonight (Wednesday). Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter, Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and The Needles, Yarmouth RNLI, Freshwater Independent Lifeboat, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police are all involved in the incident. Emergency services are on scene between Hanover Point and Freshwater Bay. It was at around 21:00 that the situation first developed and the incident remains ongoing at this time. 
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has an ambulance crew, critical care paramedic, critical care doctor and an operational commander in attendance. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has officers and a detective on scene, liaising with the first responders. Further information is expected on Thursday morning.
