A body has been found during the search for missing 18-year-old Chris Koppany, Police have confirmed. The discovery was made this morning (Saturday) during the second day of a major search operation involving Police, HM Coastguard and WightSAR. Chris was last seen on Binstead Beach at around 19:00 on Thursday evening. Now, after around 38 hours, his body has been located. Although formal identification is yet to take place, Chris’ family have been informed of the sad update. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner.
The search operation, which has involved 8 lifeboats, 5 Coastguard teams, WightSAR, Police, a Police boat and a Coastguard helicopter, has now been stood down.
