ARREST MADE AFTER MAN THREATENED WITH A KNIFE IN FRESHWATER

A 27-year-old man from the West Wight is in custody after threatening another man with a knife in Freshwater Bay. Police say that a 41-year-old man was reportedly threatened by another male – armed with a knife – near the long stay car park on Afton Road on Friday 2nd August, between 16:00 and 16:30. Nobody was physically harmed in this incident. Officers investigating the incident have now made an arrest, with a 27-year-old from Freshwater arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and for possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody at Newport Police Station at this time. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is asking witnesses to the incident to come forward.
