UPDATED: ARREST MADE AFTER MALE TRIED BREAKING INTO BINSTEAD HOME

A man who tried breaking into a house in Binstead on Friday night was soon arrested by Police. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was called at around 19:40 to a report of an attempted break-in at a residential property on Jellicoe Road. Officers descended on the area and soon made their way to nearby Pell Lane, where a 40-year-old man from Sandown was located and arrested at around 20:00. It has been confirmed that he was taken into custody on suspicion of threatening violence to secure entry to a premises. He remained in custody at Newport Police Station yesterday. UPDATE – The man has been released with no further action, Police have confirmed. The victim has not supported a prosecution.
