Red Funnel has once again cancelled a number of its vehicle ferry sailings due to continuing technical issues. The cross-Solent operator pulled 4 of its timetabled crossings yesterday (Monday) due to an issue with the aft main engine on board Red Eagle. Now, at least another 4 sailings have been cancelled for the same reason. Both the 10:00 and 13:00 from Southampton have been cancelled for today (Tuesday) alongside the 11:30 and 14:30 from East Cowes. It’s unknown if there will be any further cancellations throughout the day. Red Eagle has been at the centre of a number of recent cancellations. Island Echo is led to believe that the cross-Solent operator is keeping Red Eagle going through the busy Summer holiday period in a bid to maintain a scheduled timetable, but at a reduced speed. Customers say it appears crossings involving Eagle take around an extra 7 minutes to complete, leading to delays on both sides of the Solent.
