The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been scrambled to Sandown for the second time in 24 hours – this time to a medical emergency at Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club. Flying medics took off from the air ambulance’s base at Thruxton at around 10:35, in response to reports of a serious medical emergency at the golf club on the outskirts of Sandown and Lake. The air ambulance touched down on the green just before 11:00, with paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service already on scene treating the patient. It was this time yesterday that the air ambulance responded to a woman who had fallen from the sea wall at Sandown Esplanade. UPDATE @ 11:55 – The air ambulance has lifted off from the golf club, but has not conveyed the patient.
