The driver of a Ford Fiesta has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired through drink or drugs following an early morning collision in Ventnor. Police were called to Spring Hill in the town at 06:31 this morning (Wednesday) when the Bronze-coloured Ford crashed into a parked white Dacia Duster, shunting the vehicle uphill. The Fiesta then rolled backwards into another car – a classic Nissan Figaro – parked on the opposite side of the road. Island Echo is told that the driver of the Fiesta then tried to start the vehicle, without success. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 44-year-old man from Coventry – who is thought to frequent the Island regularly – has been arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired through drink or drugs. He remains in Police custody at this time. Spring Hill was closed for a time but has since re-opened following recovery of the vehicles involved.
