Red Funnel has been forced to cancel yet more vehicle ferry sailings on its East Cowes-Southampton route – with Red Eagle proving to be the problematic vessel once again. It has been confirmed that the 19:00 sailing from Southampton has been pulled this evening (Monday), alongside the 20:30 from East Cowes, the 22:00 from Southampton and the 23:30 from East Cowes. It’s due to a technical issue with Aft main engine on Red Eagle. Red Eagle has been at the centre of a number of the recent cancellations and was the ferry pulled out of service for more than a week at the start of August. It is unclear at this stage if the problems will impact Tuesday’s service. Island Echo is led to believe that the cross-Solent operator is keeping Red Eagle going through the busy Summer holiday period in a bid to maintain a scheduled timetable, but at a reduced speed. Customers say it appears crossings involving Eagle take around an extra 7 minutes to complete, leading to delays on both sides of the Solent. Red Funnel apologises for any inconvenience
