UPDATED: 2-VEHICLE CRASH AT MORTON LEADS TO TRAFFIC DIVERSION HEADING INTO SANDOWN

A crash between a classic VW camper and a Toyota Yaris has led to the partial closure of Morton Road between Brading and Sandown this afternoon (Thursday). Police and paramedics are on scene near the junction with Devonia Gardens, where the 2-vehicle crash occurred shortly before 13:20. Motorists heading into Sandown from Ryde are being diverted at Yarbridge via Marshcombe Shute and Yaverland. Traffic heading out of Sandown is still able to pass through Morton Common and Morton Road. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is checking over those involved in the smash, which has led to the deployment of airbags in the Yaris. Both vehicles – an orange VW T2 and a red Toyota Yaris – have sustained front-end damage. UPDATE – The road has now re-opened.
